The Communication Networks Laboratory

 The Communication Networks Laboratory at the Department of Informatics &

Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of
Athens, Greece, is searching for interested candidates for two
fully-funded PhD positions in the area of mobile communications. The
candidates must hold a Master's degree in telecommunications,
electrical, computer engineering or related disciplines, and should have
experience in the area of wireless technologies and/or networks. The two
positions are as follows:
Distributed MIMO with analog-beamforming and self-contained
transmissions (position #ESR3)
Description (Targets): Become expert in distributed MIMO and PHY
transmission techniques for 5G and beyond networks, develop analytical
models and antenna designs for distributed MIMO using self-contained
transmissions for 5G coverage boosting, performance assessment using
Simulink and NI equipment.
Edge content placement and delivery in converged MEC/RAN (position #ESR7)
Description (Targets): Become expert on information-centric networking
and MEC service provisioning, develop forward-thinking strategies for
popularity prediction and content placement/delivery at the network
edge, mathematical analysis/simulation-driven performance evaluation of
the proposed strategies.
The positions are fully funded for 29 (ESR3) and 27 (ESR7) months
respectively, by the European Commission under the H2020 Marie Curie
Innovative Training Network Programme. Candidates should be in their
first four years of their research career (measured from the date when
they obtained the degree which would formally entitle them to embark on
a doctorate), and not having awarded a doctoral degree. Candidates could
be of any nationality but not having resided or carried out their main
activity in Greece for more than 1 year in the past 3 years.
